ABOUT THE ARTIST |

My parents knew that I had an incurable case of "Horse Fever" after my first ride on a giant gray horse at the age of five. They found my Big Chief tablet full of horse drawings instead of my ABC's. Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1951 to Dore and Barbara Goldstein, I have always delighted in creating art about her experiences with horses in my mother's studio. Barbara Goldstein has always been an unfailing support in encouraging my artistic efforts. Horses and my passion to paint them have led me to an enjoyable and successful career as an Equine Artist. I continue to ride and teach horsemanship at a local stable in Arlington, Texas where I live with my husband and faithfully loyal canine family member. I studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, the Centro Cultural Bellas Artes and Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico as well as at the University of Texas in Arlington. I have studied horses from life, art and literature and paint in a variety of styles and media. My work is in international, private, public and corporate collections. My business, Paper Horse Studio retails a variety of products - original paintings, t-shirts, fine art and poster prints. My work has been accepted in prestigious juried exhibitions and the thrill of winning the 1999 Equitana USA poster contest was a dream come true. My work has won numerous awards since 1987 but "The Kids' Choice Award" in 2000 was the most touching, at An Artist Christmas, a fundraiser benefiting Campfire boys and girls in Fort Worth. I've recently completed a painting that was auctioned in June 2002 to raise funds for the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum's educational department. The sale of merchandise and the original painting "Liberty" at the Lusitano/ Andalusian Nationals enabled me to make a donation to the victims of 9/11. I remain excited, creating new pieces, entering my work in competitions, meeting new collectors and developing new lines of merchandise. |
